Greenhill Students Selected for USA Team and Team Texas

Four Greenhill students have been chosen to join the USA Debate Team and Team Texas.

Sophia Li ‘24 and Sherry Zhang ’25 have been selected to the USA Debate Team for the 2023-2024 season. This is Sophia’s second year to be selected for the National Team. Thus far this season, Sophia was the top individual speaker at the Grapevine tournament and Sherry was the top individual speaker at the Greenhill School tournament.

 

The USA Debate Team is supported by the National Speech and Debate Association and is comprised of 12 high school students from across the country who vied for a position on the team through an application process that included multiple videos, essays, and personal interviews to go along with documentation of an outstanding record of debate performances. The team competes domestically as well as in international competitions held in Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and Singapore.

 

Reyna Diamond ’24 and Varun Mukund ’25 have been selected as members of Team Texas by the Texas Forensic Association for the 2023-2024 competitive season. Team Texas is sponsored by the Texas Forensic Association and is designed to give top World Schools debaters from Texas opportunities to compete in both domestic and international events. Only 16 students in the state of Texas were chosen to be on the team.
